products : { 410 - Alloy 410 stainless is a martensitic stainless steel with high mechanical properties. }

Properties

Alloy 410 is a martensitic stainless steel with high mechanical properties and is ferromagnetic in the annealed or hardened condition. 410 contains the minimum amount of chromium to impart stainless steel properties. 410 resists oxidation and scaling up to 1200 degF. Hardness is one of 410's best features; It resists abrasion and wear better than most 300 series stainless steels.

Great Plains Stainless stocks 410 with 0.08% maximum carbon to better meet chemical requirements of 410S, which is not an available grade in ASTM A268. 410S is available in A240 for plate, and A479 for bar.

Applications

Alloy 410 pipe is used where abrasion and wear resistance is needed, combined with fair resistance to general corrosion and oxidation. Pipelines transporting fluids mixed with solids like coal, sand or gravel utilize the high mechanical properties found in type 410.
